Lea Pearl, or Lea from the Deep, has 175 years of family history in New Orleans, but she didn’t grow up in the city. Lea is a country girl from the rural outskirts of the swamp with public school credientials. She was also a tour guide at LSU. Her confirmation name is Clare. Her dad made them get her out of class in elementary school more than once to show her what he’d caught that day…before they ate it (yes, this list includes an alligator and a turtle and huge fish!). She’s been living in the city since 2008 and became a licensed tour guide in 2023.
More like a deep conversation, an experience with Lea isn’t a performance but an exploration. Lea is excited by the questions you ask and the additional wisdom you share. The questions are often quests to learn more, and no two tours will be ever the same. She spends her free time researching, so her understanding of the city is always evolving. She is certified in New Orleans Culture, History and Tourism by Loyola University and you can often find her at educational lectures around the city. See her research at noladeeptours.com
